TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONS
2015 TUDOR UNITED SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP - 60PCS
This series is made up of 60 numbered, custom acrylic awards. Each award includes 3 hand blown oil drops embedded at the top of the award as well as a two sided graphic print embedded in the middle of the acrylic block. Each individual oil drop contains actual Mobil1 race oil from the corresponding C7.R that raced at Rolex 24 At Daytona, 24 Hour Le Mans, and Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring.
Along with being my first fully designed award, I also learned a lot about scheduling purchase of materials and services needed to produce each step of this award. Oil had to be shipped to us from client, sent off to our glass factory to produce and fill each hand blown oil drop. Then cast into each acrylic block. All had to be executing seamlessly to deliver on time to client out of state.
This is the first Mobil1 Racing award I had the privileged to completely design on my own. I was also tasked with setting up, printing, producing, and applying all of the exterior graphics. The base graphic is printed at 30% flow white ink to allow for a semi-transparent appearance that includes the award number, such as 1 of 60.
The car images were supplied by client, but did not have the proper emblems or numbers which were all applied in Photoshop before being print/cut on vinyl. The crown is printed in layers of metallic ink, white ink, and full color CMYK. An over laminate was applied to protect the metallic ink and loaded into a plotter to cut out each crown. The crowns, cars, and base vinyl decals are all applied via a wet mounting solution.
